Welcome

I’m Alice Tarbuck, an academic, writer and literature professional based in Edinburgh. You can find me on the Scottish Book Trust’s Live Literature Database.

I’m a 2019 Scottish Book Trust New Writers Awardee for poetry, and my debut, A Spell in the Wild: a year (and six centuries) of Magic is published by Two Roads (Hachette). My first poetry pamphlet, Grid, was published by Sad Press in 2018.

I’ve appeared at StAnza, Belfast Literary Festival, Literary Dundee, and the Scottish PEN International Women’s Day Symposium, amongst others.

My work has been published by 404 Ink, 3ofCups Press, PN Review, Antiphon, Zarf and many others.

As an editor, I’ve worked for HarperCollins, and edited books and copy published by Palgrave, IB Tauris, OModernt and others. I specialise in manuscript assessments and edit fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

As a workshop leader, I’ve run creative writing workshops for organisations including Open Book, The University of Dundee, Glasgow Women’s Library and Write Like a Grrl.

I’m also a literary chair, and have chaired events for The University of Edinburgh, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Golden Hare Books, Lighthouse Books and others.

You can get in touch here to talk about writing, to discuss manuscript assessment, or to talk about anything else, really!
